ROMANCE

Dear Readers,
Before we dive in, I want to set a new tone.
What follows marks a turning point in my journey: this person brought maturity into my life, and I am eternally grateful to this heartbreak.
As I’ve said before, rejection is realignment—and this one led to growth that shaped who I am now.
Here is the scene:
At the time, I was still on Bumble, and after my 21st birthday in October 2020, I updated my photos and started searching again.
The lockdown is coming to an end, no more 6line drama, no more intermissions, no more weirdos, just me and better bumble swipes.
I freshly turned 21, and I am free to drink.
I threw my hotel lingerie party and have gotten my first taste of freedom. Meaning, my mom let me stay outside of the house for the first time ever, eek! Important detail for later, actually.
Anyways, fresh mindset activated, just swiping with my new photos, feeling ready to take on the world of Bumble. AKA, I am app-burnt out and just stopped caring, if I am honest.
With one lazy, sleepy, and tired swipe, I matched with Mr. Baldy.
My pick-up line?
A GIF from New Girl that said, “I got nothing.”
From there, he said, “I got it” and led the conversation.
When I got his message, I was shocked cause when did I let this happen, and who are you, but the boldness of it all intrigued me.
I initially hesitated because he was balding at 23, with a spot at the front of his head.
But as our conversations continued, I found myself overlooking it and was quickly attracted to him.
We’re not quite at his full story yet, but stay tuned—his story is coming next, and it’s a big one.
Sincerely,
A Formerly In Love or Infatuated
Marie Anne
